Netflix is excited to bring comedy to life once more and demonstrate its supremacy in the stand-up scene. The streamer has publicly announced that it will host a second edition of its Netflix is a Joke Fest from May 2–12, with over 300 acts spread across over 35 Los Angeles venues. When it launched in 2022, the multi-day event swiftly rose to prominence as the largest comedy festival in North America. It sold a whopping 260,000 tickets across 295 events. In 2024, it's expected to be even bigger. The lineup has some of the hottest comedians to date, including the one and only BILL BURR!
“This is a special time for comedy, both for Netflix and the genre at large,” said Robbie Praw, Netflix’s VP of Stand-up and Comedy Formats. “We have the privilege of working with comedians who are selling out arenas, winning awards and building fandoms in the millions. In the 10 years that we’ve been doing stand-up we’ve seen the art form reach levels we didn’t think possible. This festival aims to capture this moment by bringing together the world’s best comedians for an unforgettable 11 days.”
About Bill Burr:
He is a comedian who has been nominated for an Emmy and a Grammy. This guy is a prominent figure in contemporary comedy, having enjoyed great success in a variety of film and television roles (in addition to performing live). OLD DADS, a movie that Burr co-wrote, directed, and starred in, debuted as the most watched movie on Netflix during its first two weeks of availability. Burr and Adam Sandler also co-starred in the animated Netflix feature LEO on November of this year, which debuted as the platform's top movie. Among his many parts are those in Judd Apatow's film The King of Staten Island; Hugh Jackman's film The Front Runner; Disney+'s The Mandalorian; and Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell's film Daddy's Home, to mention a few.
Additionally, he is a well known host from Saturday Night Live. He was also a memorable recurring character on the critically acclaimed AMC series Breaking Bad, as "Kuby." During his career, Burr performed in amphitheaters and arenas in Europe and North America. He created history in 2022 by being the first comedian to play Fenway Park. Bill Burr: Live in Red Rocks, his 2022 Netflix special that was filmed in the iconic location, solidifies his status as one of the most accomplished artists of all time.
