Hey, everyone, did you catch the news? The KCRW Festival is turning up the heat at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday, September 8th!
Forged through the partnership of the Los Angeles Philharmonic (LA Phil) and KCRW radio station, KCRW’s World Festival is an annual music festival that takes place in Los Angeles, California. Scheduled on Sunday evenings, every concert is presented by a KCRW deejay, including the likes of Nic Harcourt, Jason Bentley, Garth Trinidad, Anne Litt, Raul Campos, or Tom Schnabel.
In addition, what's totally great is that the series is known for putting the spotlight on the most incredible artists from all corners of the globe! Year after year, their rosters epitomize the artistic collaboration of this special collaboration, exploring the musical world with a dynamic and diverse program. Unfortunately, the official lineup is yet to be confirmed, so stay tuned for more information about the upcoming season.
Last year, we were treated to some seriously amazing groups at this killer summer music festival! The previous edition featured a stacked bill that included several reggae musicians and award-winning bands like The Man, Chicano Batman, Maggie Rogers, My Morning Jacket, Fleet Foxes, Say She She, Alvvays, Los Auténticos Decadentes, Reggae Night, and many more!
Fingers crossed, this year might bring even more high-profile names our way! “Since the mid-1990s, there has been a steady increase in global music exposure that has taken the genre out of its traditional niche,” KCRW DJ Garth Trinidad shares. “This can be attributed to producers in hip-hop and dance music making use of samples by world music artists and more recently creating music by traveling to different countries to collaborate.”
Accommodating nearly 18,000 guests, the Hollywood Bowl has served as the summer residence for the Los Angeles Philharmonic since its official opening in the early ‘20s. Dubbed one of the largest natural amphitheaters in the world, the venue is the top spot for live concerts, so it comes as no surprise that the Bowl's summer music festival is held here every year! Tickets for the KCRW Festival on Sunday, September 8th, are available now, so get yours soon!
